West Michigan Works is a working coalition of employers and community leaders from throughout the Holland/Zeeland area. We strive to preserve our strong traditions of job growth and economic opportunity. We believe the key to a successful future lies within a set of core values deeply rooted in a broad cross section of our diverse community.

West Michigan Works began in 2003 when a group of leaders from across the Holland/Zeeland area recognized the impact on our community of the fundamental changes taking place in the economy.

Recognizing that structural changes to our economy were inevitable, the group launched a public dialog on how the community’s values could help us be successful in a new economy. The preservation of those values—specifically in the workplace—became the goal that we continue to work toward today.

Commitment to Family
There’s nothing more important to a strong community than the ability to start and raise a family. Our community is recognized as one of the best places in the country for families to work, play and live.

Economic Security
We count on our neighbors, our employers and our jobs to be there in the future. We understand that there are no guarantees, and that our community is not immune to hard economic times. But by doing all we can to create jobs and economic opportunity, we provide ourselves with the best possible chance for a secure economic future.
